There's An App For That?
Have some left over Lo Mein from last night but are really craving a slice of cold pizza tonight? Well, lucky for you, there's an app for that.
Leftover Swap, featured today on NPR, is an app that allows you to snap a pic of your leftover food and then post it to the database to be viewed by strangers in your geographic area who can offer you a trade for your food or just take it off your hands. It's like GrubHub for the cheapsters.
To me, this is really quite gross. Snagging leftover grub from some dirty hipsters in your hood? There's no way this is not another step towards the downfall of our society. This is how the plague will begin to spread.
The creators, who came up with this idea while in college (most likely while high), are marketing the app as a way to be eco-conscious and reduce your waste as well as "build relationships within your community."
Admirable intentions, but I still don't like it and will not be eating your leftover tiki masala.

I'm An NPR Zombie
![]() |
| NPR zombie |
We discussed zombies. And we discussed what makes a woman a likeable celebrity. I'm obviously an expert on all of these topics.
Also, I am starting work on my zombie mermaid film project immediately. I should contact Mel Brooks......

The Fiscal Cliff Explained
When preparing for my most recent appearance on The Colin McEnroe Show on NPR, this thing called "The Fiscal Cliff" came up as a topic we may want to discuss. I had been hearing this buzz word and was vaguely familiar, but obviously had to delve deeper into research on it so as to not go on NPR and sound like a complete moron. And though I am deeply interested in politics, the world of finance and budget does not interest me. In fact, finances in general elude me. I have trouble keeping track of my own. I guess I just figured you have to have a lot more money than I do before you start to care about it. But thankfully, the only money hungry miser I like, Mr. Montgomery Burns of The Simpsons, stepped up and created this great video to perfectly explain this "Fiscal Cliff" to me and the other confused citizens. Now I get it. And I also love that he is reading "Binders" and "Women."

Listen Up
On NPR's The Nose with Colin McEnore on Friday we had a lot to discuss and it was all about trickery. The actors who got tricked into being in an anti-Muslim film that has caused horrifying and deadly outbursts, a professor who tricked her gender studies class into being forced into watching her breast feed, and men who use over the top proposals to trick women into marrying them.
I'm not going to trick you into listening, but you can if you want to.
